Robert Sanoshy, LCSW
Robert Benson Sanoshy holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor with a concentration in child, adolescent and family therapy. He has specialized training in sexual abuse and has worked with individuals, families and groups who have or are experiencing trauma in their daily lives, whether from past or current circumstances. Robert is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois.
Robert has extensive practice working with adolescents, families, non-offending caregivers, the Transgender- Bisexual- Lesbian- Gay and Questioning community and survivors of sexual abuse. In addition to the above, Robert's clinical interests lie in couples counseling, family therapy, group work, grief and loss, adoption issues, parent/child conflict, anger management and professional development.
Robert has published articles and presented at a number of national conferences on topics such as; "Creating Safe Environments for LGBTQ Youth," "Working with Traumatized Children," "LGBTQ 101," "Preventing Child Sexual Abuse," "Heterosexism 101," and "Cultural Competency." Audiences for these presentations have ranged from parents, faith communities, and professionals in the fields of education, social services and the law.
Robert is committed to concepts of safety, partnership within the therapeutic relationship and cultural sensitivity regarding race, ethnicity, ability, gender, age, religion and sexual orientation. He brings these commitments to his work with his clients and colleagues.
